Good Morning America January 21, 2005

At desk, Kate is not present. Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" plays

CG - Charles Gibson DS - Diane Sawyer

CG So it looks like a cheeseburger, right? I mean there it sits. Nice cheeseburger, a little appetizing. How much does it weigh Diane? diane sawyer holding 96er
DS It weighs 10 pounds, Charlie.
CG A 10 pound burger. Can you lift it?
DS Yeah, I can lift it like this, but can I get in one bite? We're gonna try later on because there's a girl who weighs about 100 pounds who won a contest eating this, and this morning we're gonna figure out how on earth you do that and Marisol Castro says she's going to give it a whirl.
CG She's gonna try a 10 lb burger? 96er
DS These tiny girls, teeny little girls who can beat the big guys at this sort of thing.
CG Remember the advertising slogan, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" If anybody can say that, it would be this young woman. Anyway, you'll meet her when we go to the water cooler. Good Morning America. I'm Charles Gibson.
DS I'm Diane Sawyer. Good to have you back.

Around the Water Cooler Segment

Everyone is sitting around a table with a 96er and some smaller burgers (which aren't mentioned)

KS - Kate Stelnick RR - Robin Roberts MC - Marisol Castro

CG A restaurant offers a challenge: could you eat a ten pound burger? Kate Stelnick, who weighs only 100 pounds, took up the challenge and you did it? gma cast and kate
KS Yes.
CG How?
KS It was hard.
DS Three hours. you started with the meat for two hours and then switched off to the onion and the bun? kate laughing
KS Right, but I still had some meat by the end and it was cold and it was hard to eat but it was good in the beginning, so it was OK.
DS And how long did you starve before you did this?
KS Well I didn't eat 14 hours before but I ate very little the day before and then drank a lot of beverages. kate and marisol
RR And very little after, I would imagine you ate.
KS Like a salad, that was about it.
CG Did you get on a scale before and after?
KS No, I don't want to know. kate and cast with audience
CG Good thing, good thing.
DS How did you know you could do this?
KS I have a pretty big appetite.
MC Where did all of it go? marisol with burger fragments
CG Are those the same jeans you wore?
KS No, I kind of wore very baggy clothes when I ate this burger.
DS Well, you only won like gift certificates to the burger joint. marisol with audience
MC And I'm gonna ...
CG And you're gonna try it (to Marisol).
DS I want to thank Denny Leigey, from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub for making our burgers.

There was a running gag with Marisol apparently eating the 96er throughout the remainder of the show. In the last segment of GMA, after claiming she was ready for her second burger, a surveillance video was played showing Marisol handing out fragments of the sandwich to the audience. Kate is asked one final question: kate smiling
CG When you look at this (96er) now, does it give you a slight touch of dyspepsia?
KS No, I feel kind of hungry looking at it.

The Tony Danza Show January 21, 2005 From Opening Segment

Transferring from videotape (instead of directly sending the video signal into the computer) is somewhat responsible for the low image quality, but no captures would have been obtained at all had one not been used. I was unaware that Kate would be on this show and recorded it because the VCR continued after GMA.
Tony & 96er
Tony locating Kate
TD How about this. Are you ready for this? (unveils 96er) Now look at this thing. Now this is this giant burger and let me just show you something. I am going to take a walk. Let me take a little walk. Let me get some of the oil off me here. (wipes hands and walks towards audience)

Somebody in this row. Let me show you this row. Can we show this row Eddie? This row right here. Maybe this guy ate that right. Well somebody in this row ate that burger. Could you believe this? Ate it. I can't even carry it. And it's not you (points to large man sitting next to Kate), right sir. No, no. I bet you have eaten a few burgers. But never mind, I'm sorry.

It's you. Come over here. (Kate stands up and walks to aisle, audience applauds)  Turn this way. (Kate turns towards camera.)

What is your name?
KS Kate Stelnick. Tony & Kate standing
TD Where are you from Kate?
KS Princeton, New Jersey.
TD Princeton. Smart town, Princeton, usually.
KS So why did you? You ate that whole thing? Kate in profile
TD Now that burger weighs 1100 pounds. Am I right? I mean 11 pounds.
KS Right.
TD What's on that burger? Let's see. There's six pounds of meat, like 2 buns (so it's like 3 loaves of bread) a large onion, 2 whole tomatoes, half a head of lettuce a pound and a quarter of cheese on each bun, a cup of mayo, a cup of ketchup, a cup of mustard a cup of banana peppers which I don't even know what the heck they are and pickles. Why?
KS Well, I saw it on TV and I really thought I could do it cause it was a competition in a restaurant where if you did it in under three hours you win all this stuff. Tony & Kate pic #2
TD And what did you win besides like some cholesterol drugs? Really.
KS Well the meal costs $24 if you don't do it so I got mine for free.
TD You get yours for free if you win the contest?
KS And all my friends tried and they got theirs for free even though they lost really badly. Kate & part of Tony's head
TD And that made you feel?
KS Really good. They're all guys so I beat them.
TD What does your mother feel about this?
KS She was kind of disgusted.
TD Well listen, don't make this a habit because you look great and it's probably not the best thing for you. Tony & Kate both in profile
KS Right.
TD I'm having a hard time saying congratulations. It's nice meeting you and take care of yourself. (Kate sits down and Tony Danza goes back to the stage next to the 96er) That burger. This burger is from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Pennsylvania. And I just can't imagine even eating this thing. Could you imagine? I mean I have had some bad nights you know but this is. You know what, let's put this thing away. (Covers 96er with black cloth).
