HBO Max Releases Official Trailer For New Issa Rae Series “Rap Sh!t”

HBO Max on Tuesday released the official trailer for Rap Sh!t, an original comedy series created by Emmy nominee Issa Rae (“Insecure”). The series premieres on July 21 with two episodes at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET. The eight-episode season will continue with one weekly episode through September 1.

The series follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion). The two reunite to form a rap group and form a new bond in the process. The series also stars Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell and RJ Cyler.

Rap Sh!t is executive produced by Issa Rae and showrunner Syreeta Singleton and Montrel McKay for Hoorae, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment and Deniese Davis. Rae also wrote the pilot episode and co-wrote the final episode with Singleton.

Yung Miami and JT of hip hop duo City Girls are co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for Hoorae. Raedio, Rae’s audio content company, will provide music oversight for the series. Check out the full trailer below.

EstrellaTV will premiere the scripted anthology series Un Día Para Vivir on July 18th. The series, whose title means “One Day to Live”, focuses on people who are visited by Death (Maria José Magán), who tells them that they have one day to solve their problems before they die. The cast of the Mexican series includes Silvia Pasquel, Mauricio Islas, Andrea Noli, Sergio Kleiner, Ana Ciocchetti, Stephanie Salas, Tomás Goros, Isabella Camil and Pedro Sicard. The show will air new episodes Monday through Friday.


Television Academy announced the official list of corporate partners for the 2022 Emmy Awards season. The list includes Kia America, Fiji Water, Franciacorta, Justin Vineyards & Winery, Ketel One Family Made Vodka, People and United Airlines. The 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place over two consecutive nights on September 3rd and 4th. The 74th Emmy Awards will be televised live on NBC on September 12 and simultaneously streamed live on Peacock.


Disney announced a casting update for Season 5 of Grown-ish, including the promotion of Daniella Perkins, who plays Kiela, to a regular spot on the series. Six actors have been cast in recurring roles: Tara Raani will play Zaara, a first-generation queer Muslim-American; Justine Skye plays Annika, a highly ambitious, funny and sharp-witted newcomer; Amelie Zilber plays Lauryn, another newcomer who’s a bit shy and awkward; Ceyair Wright plays Zeke, an All-American football player who’s super confident; Matthew Sato plays Brandon, a sophomore at Cal U who is charming, smart, and an overachiever; and Slick Woods plays Slick, a no-filter style icon for newbies. Entertainment.Monks, a division of Media.Monks, has announced several new projects in development. The department is currently working on an animated series with Netflix producers Down to Earth with Zac Efron, a game show with Haymaker East, producer of Floor is Lava, a paranormal docuseries with Crazy Leg Productions, and several other reality series projects.
