Prey debuts as the top-rated Predator film on Rotten Tomatoes

The critics have spoken, and prey stands tall as the highest rated film in the world predator Franchise. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, a website that aggregates reviews from a variety of reviewers to calculate a certain “score,” prey is currently at 92% freshness based on 143 reviews. Its audience rating isn’t too far behind, scoring 82% with more than 250 fan-submitted ratings. His tomatometer score makes it official prey the highest-rated film in the series, and that even includes the popular original film.

Dating back to the original Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the hit film sits at Rotten Tomatoes with a fresh 80% score, which is still respectable, not as high as Prey. However, the original Predator fared better with its viewership rating reaching 87%. The following notes for predator Movies span 1990s predator 2 at 30% and 44%; 2010s predators at 65% and 52%; and The robber at 33% and 33%. Even if that doesn’t occur to some die-hard fans of the original prey to be superior, many of you still seem to agree that the franchise has gotten back on track with this latest release.

The series’ crossover films didn’t fare much better than the others predator sequels. If we look at the year 2004 Alien VS Predator, this film has a poor score of 21% with an audience rating of 39%. The sequel from 2007, Alien vs Predator: Requiemperformed worse than its predecessor, ending up with a miserable 12% lazy score and a 30% audience score.

Critics have widely praised Amber Midthunder’s performance in Prey

prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison. Serving as a prequel to the previous four films, it introduces the very first Predator to visit the planet in search of new prey to hunt. Amber Midthunder plays a 17th-century Comanche woman who must take on a deadly Predator using only the primitive weapons at her disposal. On this all critics seem to agree, even those who otherwise gave the film negative reviews, is that Midthunder shines with her performance in the film.

“The film’s success falls squarely on Midthunder’s shoulders,” says our own Julian Roman in his review. “She is remarkable in every facet of her character. Naru is nuanced with her family, but an absolute villain against the merciless Predator. She has the fortitude to kill a monster. I hope to see her character again in a sequel.”

Roman’s desire to see Midthunder appears in another prey Film is not beyond the realm of possibility. Since the critical acclaim has been so strong, it can only increase fans’ interest in watching this film now that it has made its streaming debut. The strong reviews are nice, but ultimately it affects the film’s chances of a sequel more than viewership. If enough fans tune in, maybe we’ll see more of Midthunder in action.

prey now streaming on Hulu.
