Tom Cruise celebrated his 60th birthday in style.
The ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star kicked off his big day at the 2022 British Grand Prix on Sunday – and it seems his birthday luck rubbed off on his ‘great friend’ Lewis Hamilton.
Cruise, wearing a powder blue polo shirt and his signature aviator sunglasses, was among the first to congratulate the Formula One driver after he finished third at his home race over the weekend.
“Happy birthday,” Hamilton, 37, was heard saying as they embraced at the Silverstone Circuit on Cruise’s 60th birthday.
The seven-time world champion was narrowly beaten by Red Bull’s Sergio PĂ©rez, who finished second, while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz celebrated his first win of his career.
Cruise, who is a longtime motorsport fan, told Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle that he “always” supports Hamilton.
“He’s a good friend of mine. I hope he has a great day,” Cruise said on the starting grid.
We’re told the Mission: Impossible actor spent some time chatting with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay before watching the race in the Mercedes garage with team boss Toto Wolff.
Another eyewitness told Page Six that Cruise was “super cute” while speaking to “Stranger Things” actress Amybeth McNulty, who was spending the day with Williams Racing.
McNulty was also spotted speaking to ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ actor William Moseley and ‘Made in Chelsea’ star James Matthews, who was accompanied by his wife Vogue Williams.
Away from the track, Cruise had plenty to celebrate on his birthday weekend. His last film – which was named “Movie of the Summer” – has now grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
Top Gun: Maverick earned an additional $25.545 million in the United States and $37 million abroad over the weekend of July 4th, cementing its place in history as one of the highest-grossing films of all time (according to Forbes).
“To all the films in the release, to all the studios and to all the exhibitors: congratulations,” Cruise tweeted on June 27th.
“To the audience: thank you for venturing out and allowing us to entertain you. I’ll see you at the cinema.”
Earlier this week, Cruise kicked off his birthday party by catching Adele at a concert with actor Luke Evans.
Cruise snapped a selfie with the “Beauty & the Beast” star ahead of Friday’s show, which took place in London’s Hyde Park.
