Shock: Emily Miller revealed she suffered an ectopic pregnancy on Friday, after finding out she was pregnant ‘a few weeks ago’ with her boyfriend Cam Holmes

The television personality explained that despite the ‘shock’ pregnancy she was ‘quite excited’ before being admitted to A&E with stomach pain earlier this week.

Alongside a photo for her hospital bed, Emily penned: ‘So a few weeks ago I discovered I was pregnant. Although it was a shock it was something I was also quite excited about.

‘However on Tuesday. I collapsed whilst being at the shops. I cannot even describe to you the pain- it felt like my whole stomach was collapsing and was quickly hit to hospital. I waited in A&E until 3pm the next day, when I finally got my scan.’

She continued: ‘As I laid on the table squeezing Cams hand the 2 nurses were so silent. I asked if everything is ok and she replied ‘I’m just going to get my colleague for a second opinion’ as the 3 nurses gathered round it was then they confirmed I had something called an ectopic pregnancy.

‘For those who haven’t heard of this (like me) it’s basically where the fetus gets stuck and grows in your Fallopian tube which is fatal and if I had left it much longer my Fallopian tube would of burst.

‘It’s one of those things you just think will never happen to you. I was just so scared. Not only was I about to lose my baby but I was about to have my Fallopian tube removed with the potential of my ovary too.

‘All I wanted to do was speak to my mum and I’m pretty sure I scared all the poor women in that waiting room with my crying.’

Going into more detail about the surgery she added: ‘I hadn’t eaten or drank for 24 hours at this point, as I had to have an empty stomach for the scan and for potential surgery.

‘So you can see in the picture I was sniffing cams protein cookie because I was so hungry. But at least I had finally been given a bed which meant I was hours away from being out of this pain. But this did feel very bitter sweet.

‘At 10pm Wednesday I was taken into surgery and I don’t know who was crying more me or Cam but was extremely emotional to say the least.’

‘I had asked Cam to get me a list of food and drink for when I return but I had panic attack when I woke up. I was dosed up with morphine because I was in so much pain that I then felt sick and had to go straight to sleep.’

Tough: Emily concluded her candid post: 'Physically I'm still in a lot of pain and bed bound after the surgery but mentally it's been even harder'

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in the fallopian tube, meaning a baby is unable to develop and leaving the mother’s health in danger.

While there is a chance of conception again, it is advisable for the woman to wait a while due to damage caused in the fallopian tube.

Emily and Cam met on season two of Too Hot To Handle in June 2021, and having moved in together only a month and a half into their relationship, Camily had been the programme’s only couple to survive in the real world.

The season two finalists previously revealed they had sex seven times a day for a week when the show ended.

The couple had an instant connection from the moment they walked into the villa and admitted they got a bit carried away once they were finally able to sleep together.

Speaking on the PrettyLittleThing podcast, Emily and Cam revealed their friends were ‘worried’ about them and told them their sex life may be ‘a bit too much’.

Cam said: ‘We had an instant connection which wasn’t shown as much on the first episode but instantly we were just drawn to each other so that made things a lot harder.’

What is an ectopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes connecting the ovaries to the womb. If an egg gets stuck in them, it won’t develop into a baby and your health may be at risk if the pregnancy continues.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to save the pregnancy. It usually has to be removed using medicine or an operation.

In the UK, around 1 in every 90 pregnancies is ectopic. This is around 11,000 pregnancies a year.

An ectopic pregnancy does not always cause symptoms and may only be detected during a routine pregnancy scan.

If you do have symptoms, they tend to develop between the 4th and 12th week of pregnancy.

Symptoms can include a combination of: a missed period and other signs of pregnancy, tummy pain low down on 1 side, vaginal bleeding or a brown watery discharge, pain in the tip of your shoulder and discomfort when peeing or pooing
