Today, an average employee spends 80% of their time collaborating, and four times as many electronic devices are used per user. Where you work has become less important, but how effectively you work from a target workplace has become more important. The distributed hybrid work environment is here to stay, as 50% of companies expect the number of employees working from home to be permanently larger than before the pandemic. With an increasing number of devices, the collaborative work environment and the distributed nature of work, you need a robust digital infrastructure to connect users to their applications. Corporate IT is responsible for keeping employees connected, secure and productive at all times.
VMware SASE™ (Secure Access Service Edge) addresses these goals for IT by providing users with secure, reliable and efficient access to any application from any location. Aside from connecting users to their applications, the solution provides crucial insight into the user experience. VMware Edge Network Intelligence™ is an AIOps solution from VMware SASE that provides comprehensive visibility into user experience without requiring a physical or virtual “IT visit”.
“VMware Edge Network Intelligence integration provides enhanced visibility into application experience signals for Microsoft Teams, enabling customers to target their troubleshooting efforts and infrastructure investments to enable a best-in-class collaboration experience. This is the first step in our collaboration that will enable increased visibility into application experiences across Microsoft 365, delivering even greater value to our mutual customers.”
Jim Kleewein, Technical Associate, Microsoft
Companies worldwide use Microsoft Teams as an indispensable tool for communication and collaboration. IT needs a deeper look into the user experience when organizations use Teams. VMware integrates teams’ experience data provided by Microsoft 365-informed network routing with VMware Edge Network Intelligence. For a company with hundreds or thousands of employees geographically spread across multiple regions, it is imperative for IT to know if all or part of the workforce is experiencing any issues related to a particular application. This integration provides deep visual evidence of each user’s experience with Teams. VMware Edge Network Intelligence analyzes many factors that influence variations in user experience. The solution helps determine if there are issues that are site specific, isolated from a wireless location, affected by network services, or impacted by Teams themselves.
Integration with Microsoft 365 informed network routing enables further visibility to other experiences outside of Teams, and we plan to expand to include other key Microsoft productivity apps in VMware Edge Network Intelligence. Additionally, the experience signals provided by Microsoft will allow us to deliver exciting improvements and new values in VMware SD-WAN routing.
“Our partnership with Microsoft helps IT increase visibility into the user experience in their distributed work environment. This integration will help customers take a step closer to their journey to self-healing networks.”
Craig Connors, VP and General Manager, VMware SASE and Edge
VMware Edge Network Intelligence uses machine learning to automatically discover end-user devices and fundamental user experiences, monitor anomalies, alert and assist operations, and proactively troubleshoot and self-heal the network. VMware Edge Network Intelligence collects user experience data from multiple viewpoints such as WiFi, wired LAN, SD-WAN, network services and applications to provide deeper and more comprehensive insights into user performance, isolate faults and pinpoint problems.
In addition to gaining insight into the user experience with teams in each location within their organization, IT will be able to compare experiences across locations and with peers in the industry. These insights will help IT proactively take remedial action to improve the user experience and embark on the journey of transforming the infrastructure into a self-healing network. The integrated solution reduces operational burdens and helps keep the distributed workforce productive while turning the clock back on IT operations.
